Distant Buzzing
03:26
|
|||
A metal man is ploughing my field,
The leaves they are in laughter.
A giddy haze has come to me,
As I lead my donkey to water.
Sits a sentinel, sticky and bound,
Watching our disaster –
She says to me “What have you found
That you’re happy to leave for the after?”
Sentinel of seas, keeper of the trees,
Whisperer of the earth and divide
Precious moments, that passed us by
Will collide with a vengeance.
“What better dreams and subtler seams,
What gentleness, what fervour?
What temple to love could you build with your greed
That you’re happy to leave for the after?”
Donkey shivers and snorts impatient,
Her voice lost in the halter,
“I build houses of straw to burn in me
And carve only ash for my altar.
Dreams among insects, ripples and gold,
Contagion to addle the sleeper.
When the time it comes to suffer my bones
What haven’t I left for the after?”
Sentinel of seas, keeper of the trees,
Whisperer of the earth and divide
Precious moments, that passed us by
Will collide with a vengeance.
Precious moments will collide,
Will collide, will collide.

In Converse
04:18
|
|||
Still south I went, and west, and south again,
Through Wicklow, from the morning to the night,
And far from cities and the sites of men,
Lived with the sunshine and the moon’s delight.
I knew the stars, the flowers and the birds,
The grey and wintry sides of many glens,
And did but half remember human words,
In converse with the mountains, moors and fens.

Lifeblood

There comes a time when the words do not rhyme,
And the harmony jars and the unison spars.
Lyrics aspire to electric guitire,
Find a meaning for life from this trouble and strife.
Hats off to melody, let’s go write a threnody,
Don’t hesitate to show spontaneity.
Your gladsome serenity will aid you through
Any fate, don’t abdicate such responsibility.
It’s your lifeblood.
“If you bring forth
What is within you,
What you bring forth
Will save you.
If you don’t bring forth
What’s within you,
What you don’t bring forth
Will destroy you.”
Hats off to melody, let’s go write a threnody,
Don’t hesitate to show spontaneity.
Your gladsome serenity will aid you through
Any fate, appreciate such responsibility.
It’s your lifeblood.

Be Here Steryear
04:48
|
|||
Be near steryear,
Be close at hand.
See hear steryear
Are finding binding.
Binding finding
Hear steryear,
Hand at close
Be here steryear.
Be near steryear,
Be close at hand.
See hear steryear
Are finding binding.
Far off beyond
Moment proceed,
Order ensure
Become solely.
Be near steryear,
Be close at hand.
See hear steryear
Are finding binding.
Binding finding
Here steryear,
Hand at close
Be here steryear.

A Husk
05:41
|
|||
A bale of straw in human form,
Seeming forlorn on a summer's day.
He'd curse the night that he was born,
Spending the dawn til the dusk
A husk designed to scare away a
Crow.
Humming a tune as he
Leers at the Moon –
Tiny eye, ye be too high,
And the wind a liar.
To feel so lonesome in this field,
Braving the wind and the rain
Of this earth.
The bale of straw in human form,
Looking forlorn on a winter's night
He'd curse the day that he was born.
Humming a tune as he
Leers at the Moon.
Tiny eye, ye be too high,
And the wind a liar.

The Blind Boy
02:49
|
|||
O say what is that thing call’d Light,
Which I must ne’er enjoy;
What are the blessings of the sight,
O tell your poor blind boy!
You talk of wondrous things you see,
You say the sun shines bright;
I feel him warm, but how can he
Or make it day or night?
My day or night myself I make
Whene’er I sleep or play;
And could I ever keep awake
With me ’twere always day.
With heavy sighs I often hear
You mourn my hapless woe;
But sure with patience I can bear
A loss I ne’er can know.
Then let not what I cannot have
My cheer of mind destroy;
Whilst thus I sing, I am a king,
Although a poor blind boy.

Heart Of Oak
04:37
|
|||
Come cheer up my lads, it’s to glory we steer,
To add something more to this wonderful year.
To honour, we call you, as free men not slaves,
For who are so free as the sons of the waves.
Heart of oak are our ships,
Heart of oak are our men.
We always are ready.
Steady boys, steady!
We’ll fight and we’ll conquer again.
Our worthy forefathers let’s give them a cheer,
To climates unknown did courageously steer.
Through oceans to deserts for freedom they came,
And dying bequeathed us their freedom and fame.

The Catford Clown
02:49
|
|||
“London Bridge is falling down!”
So sayeth the Catford Clown.
And he should know –
He’s been to places
And seen faces
Of glorious renown.
“The King of Lewisham is dead!”
At least, that’s what
The Clown he said.
Let’s rise and fall
Like the Thames he
Flow low high kind,
Sweet balm whole shine.
That’s all you need to know.
London Town is the place to be!
It may not be beside the sea,
So let’s rise and fall
Like the Thames he
Flow low high mind,
Sweet balm whole shine.
That’s all we have to show.

Castaway
04:09
|
|||
I thought we’d never drift apart
Forever you and me,
That rocks and reefs could not exist
In our idyllic sea.
No storm could overturn our boat,
When people loved as we.
Castaway, O castaway,
Tossed overboard and castaway.
Our tiny leak led to a flood,
The magic quickly failed,
We could not clear the tide away,
No matter how we bailed.
Nor find a harbour to set down,
No matter where we sailed.
Castaway, O castaway,
Tossed overboard and castaway.
Now I am shipwrecked and alone,
There is no land in sight.
No lifeboat on the skyline and
No friendly rescue light.
Just clinging to the flotsam of
Our love with all my might.
Castaway, O castaway,
Tossed overboard and cast away.

Revere Reach
05:50
|
|||
I first acquainted was with this
Fine and tempestuous land,
While a-crossing o’er the saintly trap
Laid down by a hangman’s hand.
We christened it proudly Revere Reach,
To flatter its bountiful sound,
Addressed it to swallows and wood pigeons all,
And black-headed gulls on the call.
Three swans there be a-paddling close,
Approaching tenderly,
With countenance regal viewing their home
With a warmth and sympathy.
The day it melts into the night,
And the stars begin to smile.
The moon shines over Revere Reach,
And we decide to stay for awhile.
We laugh and we sigh,
A-bring a tear to an eye,
Such joy will ever remain
Until the end of our day.

Orlando
02:17
|
|||
Dark and deep,
Orlando sleep
Throughout the day.
Dreaming of pie
And turquoise sky
And fait accompli.
Orland! Orland! Orlando!
For the sins of your fathers,
Take aim and claim
Your favour,
Ne’er be fettered
Again, again,
Again.
